We've attempted to list some of our favorite resources below. Customers are continually asking for suggestions of places to go and learn. This list is certainly not all-encompassing, and we're always interested in hearing what you have to say. To a large degree, this list is representative of what our customers like and give us feedback on. Classes

College of San Mateo

CSM offers fantastic art classes at an affordable price. They've accumulated some of the best fine art teachers in our area, with ongoing classes in acrylic, oil, watercolor, plein air, and more.

Community School of Music and Arts (Belmont) 

The Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) is a mission-driven, nonprofit community arts school located in Belmont (opening April 2024)

Their music and art programs, camps, workshops, and events provide our community with access to excellence in the arts.

BACAA (Bay Area Artist Atelier)

BACAA is known for traditional drawing and oil painting classes and workshops for the more seasoned artist. They also offer international workshops from time to time.

Palo Alto Art Center

Since 1971 the Palo Alto Art Center has been one of our best local resources for art classes, life drawing sessions, and so much more!

Pacific Art League

PAL is located in downtown Palo Alto and is a great resource for classes in all mediums. They also host some fabulous art exhibitions/competitions throughout the year.

Art Academia
(Currently Online)

Art Academia is a European-style art school operating online and in Foster City, CA. Their classical methods of education provide key skills in drawing, painting, ceramics, and stonework.

Local Independent Art Instructors
and Other Resources

If you're looking for a less structured way to take art classes, or maybe looking for a workshop to attend, try some of these great local instructors.

Plein Air Groups

Along the peninsula there are a number of plein air groups that would welcome you to join them. These are a great way to meet some fellow artists on a somewhat casual basis. Typically you'll find a variety of skill levels, and a variety of mediums being used at any given outing. Here are two of our favorites.
