Joseph Altwer grew up nearby, yet he began his fine art studies in 2005 at the Florence Academy Of Art in Florence, Italy. Joe has been teaching drawing and painting since graduating in 2009, including 5 years at the Barcelona Academy of Art. Joe now lives and teaches in Half Moon Bay.

Local artist and owner Nick Chaboya’s intention is to provide a beautiful space for the artistic community to share, create, discover, and celebrate a diverse array of visual expressions. A native San Franciscan, Guy Magallanes is self-taught and has painted since childhood.
Guy started teaching in 2005 and continues to teach workshops and weekly classes at his studio in San Carlos.

Michael Rodman
Micheal specializes in painting San Francisco Cityscapes with oils on canvas, using a palette knife. His paintings can seem photographic in nature from far away, and yet up close you see the juicyness of the individual paint strokes.

Clay Life was founded in 2022 in the City of San Mateo as a for-profit community-focused pottery studio. It is a teaching studio where memberships, teambuilding, classes and private lessons are offered in Wheel Throwing, Hand-Building and Sculpture for adults and youths.

With 50 artist studios under one roof, Art Bias in San Carlos is the largest community of artists on the Peninsula. Some of these artists not only have their studios here, but also teach, have workshops, and/or offer demonstrations.

Aina Clotas
Aina Clotas grew up in a small village in northern Spain. She holds a Fine Arts Degree from the University of Barcelona and, after that, she spent three years studying traditional painting methods in the Barcelona Academy of Art. Aina is currently teaching at the College of San Mateo, but she also teaches in her studio in Half Moon Bay.

Rafael DeSoto Jr.
Rafael conducts public art classes around the San Francisco Bay Area, and also holds private classes in his San Carlos studio. He’s a member of Santa Clara Valley Watercolor Society, The Pacific Art League, The Burlingame Art Society, The Society of West-Coast Artists and the Los Gatos Art Association. He exhibits locally and nationally and has received numerous awards.

Nobu Kaji is an illustrator and graphic artist with an expertise in pencil, pen and ink, and watercolor. He currently teaches in San Bruno as well as a casual Friday morning class here at California Art (in our backyard).
